Xirrus WiFi for the conference rooms and three NANOG SSIDs: PSK, open, production staff (NANOG-ARIN, NANOG-ARIN-Legacy, NANOG-PROD)
NANOG meeting room filled with 1,300 people with probably a minimum of two wifi devices each: 2,600 devices in a single room 102 by 132 feet (Imperial ballroom, 13,464 sq ft: http://www.fairmont.com/san-jose/meetings-weddings/capacity-charts/)
Some Xirrus APs located under the chairs in the ballroom (not many of them visible, so quantity is probably small), and some on top of tables:
MBA laptop currently associated with chan 1, 20 MHz width at 130 Mbps assoc rate (802.11n) at -47 dB RSSI, -95dB noise. Ookla speedtest 13.8Mbps down, 17.57 up.
The laptop moved to chan 132, 20MHz, 78 Mbps assoc rate, -60dB RSSI, -90 dBA noise. PHY mode 802.11ac. New speedtest found 2.5Mbps down, 28.27 Mbps up.
A wifi scan shows two APs per channel across the 5 and 2.4 GHz channel ranges.
